Happy Fall!
It’s beautiful out there. Get inspired and make some stuff!
Have you ever made anything from wood you knew as a tree (or at least as a log)? Maybe just something crude and simple, or maybe some fine finished furniture. If not, you should talk to more of your fellow RWS members - lots of them have started something at the tree stage, and probably all the rest have been thinking about it. The satisfaction you get from doing it yourself goes deeper the more of it you do yourself… Well, that’s mostly true. There are some projects where I concluded “I’m not doing THAT again!” But even then, I learned more by pushing my boundaries than by not venturing. Heck, if you like everything you have tried, you definitely haven’t tried enough.
Last week, I was in the Adirondacks. Did a couple of easy hikes and the kids did some hard ones. The colors were awesome and the weather was great. But there was a little time for shopping. I hadn’t given much thought to greenwood furniture before, but I saw some pieces that were really inspiring. Maybe it’s passe stuff, but I liked it.
